Community Organizations Encouraged To Apply For ECE Touchstone Energy Award

Friday, September 9th, 2011 at 7:26 am

Great groups of dedicated volunteers abound in east central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, and East Central Energy (ECE) applauds them for their service.

As a gesture of appreciation, each year the cooperative presents the Touchstone Energy® Community Award, recognizing a civic organization or local non-profit for its outstanding contributions to the community.

Any organization in ECE’s service territory is eligible to compete for the award. The recognition comes with a $500 cash prize. Organizations are encouraged to apply for the award themselves, or applications can be submitted by others on behalf of a civic group or non-profit.

Application forms are available at or call 1-800-254-7944, ext. 8046. Completed applications must be received by October 28, 2011. The award recipient will be announced in November and will then contend for the statewide Touchstone Energy Community Award, which has a cash prize of $1,000.

Previous recipients have been recognized for their ongoing role in projects such as youth mentoring or for leadership of a specific community project, such as building a baseball field.

As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, ECE is one of more than 700 local, member-owned electric cooperatives that incorporate the values of integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community in the work they do.

East Central Energy, celebrating 75 years in 2011, is a member-owned electric cooperative that serves more than 57,000 homes, farms and businesses in east central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. ECE provides electricity and high-speed Internet, as well as community and business development and environmental services.
