There are four escaped prison inmates on the loose in Wisconsin and one of them may be armed and dangerous.

According to a Department of Corrections spokesperson, 26-year-old Caleb Smith escaped on Saturday morning from his work release site in Minong. Smith was being held at Gordon Correctional Center in Douglas County.  Smith is also believed to have assaulted a garage attendant in Burnett County, where he stole a township vehicle and may have stolen a knife from the victim.

Law enforcement officials say they believe Smith is armed and dangerous at this point.

The vehicle Smith may have stolen is a silver 2005 Chevrolet truck with Wisconsin license plate #197744. If you see this vehicle call 911, but do not approach the suspect.

Three other inmates escaped the facility Saturday night while they were painting on the Gordon Correctional Center grounds. The three inmates are 47-year-old Gary Wells, 30-year-old Danny Davis and 30-year-old Loren Frikart.

All of the inmates have a burglary or robbery charge on record.
