An informational meeting on the proposed Pine City shelter “A Place For You” will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7pm at the Pine City Library in the meeting room.

During the meeting, logistical information such as building location, policies and procedures will be discussed. The info session will also describe the effects of homelessness in Pine City as well as the difference between rural vs. urban homelessness.

Lauren Ellmers is an Americorps Vista Volunteer who is in our area working with Horizons and the Economic Development Authority to ensure that low income individuals and those living in poverty can access the resources, information and services they need for their physical and mental support as well as improving their economic support by increasing job creation and growth within Pine City.

Ellmers says the meeting “has been set up so that any concerns can be addressed, questions can be answered, and comments can be taken into account as they work to open the shelter. We are urging for as many people to attend as possible so that a healthy dialogue may continue surrounding the issue.”
