Wisconsin Public Workers Begin Receiving Smaller Paychecks

Friday, August 26th, 2011 at 6:15 am

For state employees, this week marks the first week their paychecks were lighter as a result of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget bill. Of course that is the bill that sparked weeks of protest at the capitol in Madison back in Feb and March, and ultimately led to a summer filled with recall elections.

For State employees, this was the first of the paychecks that reflect increases in employee contributions for health benefits and their pensions.

In this same bill, Gov. Walker eliminated the collective bargaining rights of most public workers, so we can be certain that with these new laws now impacting the actual paychecks of those in the unions, we haven’t heard the last of this story.
