Flags At Half-Staff Monday In Honor Of Minnesota Soldier
Governor Mark Dayton is ordering that the flags be lowered at state and federal buildings from sunrise to sunset on Monday, in remembrance of a Navy SEAL from Minnesota who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
31-year-old John Weston Faas was one of 30 U.S. troops killed when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan on August 6. Faas was a 1998 graduate of Minnehaha Academy High School. Dayton says Faas earned several medals, including a Bronze Star.
At the direction of the Governor, Minnesota flies it’s flags at half-staff following the death of Minnesota military personnel killed in the line of duty, on the day of interment.
