Wisconsin Man Pulled From Burning Truck

A Wisconsin man suffered extensive burn injuries when his truck caught fire near Drummond on Tuesday morning.

WDIO reports that Sheriff Paul Susienka reported the truck fire on County Highway N to dispatchers at 7:33 a.m.  Sheriff Susienka received help from several bystanders, including Tim Swanson of Highbridge and Tony Foat of Barnes, to knock the fire down with extinguishers and pull John Heidelberger, 51, of Drummond from the truck.

Paramedics from Great Divide Ambulance treated Heidelberger at the scene and a medical helicopter then flew him to a Duluth hospital.  He was listed in serious condition at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the cause of the accident.

The Drummond and Barnes Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
