Bachmann, Pawlenty Trade Jabs At Iowa Debate

So much for ‘Minnesota Nice.’ Thursday night in an Iowa GOP primary debate, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty took off the gloves and traded verbal jabs.

At one point during the spirited exchange, Pawlenty said that Bachmann has no record of accomplishments in congress. Pawlenty, who trails Bachmann in most polls, said that the congresswoman’s history of getting results is “non-existent.” Pawlenty cited his record as Minnesota’s Governor and said “that’s the kind of record we’re going to need to contrast – and beat Barack Obama.”

Bachmann responded to Pawlenty’s statement by questioning the former Governor’s credentials as a true conservative. “You said the era of small government was over,” Bachmann said. “That sounds a lot more like Barack Obama if you ask me.”

Gov. Pawlenty is ready for prime time. Rep. Bachmann, not so much.
