Wisconsin Republicans Hang On In Recall Elections

Tuesday was a big day for Republicans in Wisconsin as they maintained control of the State Senate.

Republicans successfully defended four seats in the recall elections, while Democrats picked up two.

Here are the latest election results.

Senate District 10:
Precincts reporting: 114 of 114
*Sen. Sheila Harsdorf (R) – 58% (37,099)
Shelly Moore (D) – 42% (27,250)

Senate District 32:
Precincts reporting: 119 of 119
Sen. Dan Kapanke (R) – 45% (26,724)
*Jennifer Shilling (D) – 55% (33,192)

Senate District 2:
Precincts reporting: 90 of 90
*Sen. Robert Cowles (R) – 60% (27,543)
Nancy Nusbaum (D) – 40% (18,039)

Senate District 8
Precincts reporting: 81 of 82
*Alberta Darling (R) – 54% (39,471)
Sandra Pasch (D) – 46% (34,096)

Senate District 14
Precincts reporting: 126 of 126
*Sen. Luther Olsen (R) – 52% (26,554)
Fred Clark (D) – 48% (24,365)

Senate District 18
Precincts reporting: 108 of 108
Sen. Randy Hopper (R) – 49% (26,937)
*Jessica King (D) – 51% (28,188)

*Declared winner

Next week two Democratic incumbents are targets of recall elections. One Democratic incumbent won his recall election last month.

The recalls are a result of intense political backlash against GOP support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s effort to curb public employees’ union rights.
