Man Arrested for Stealing Fire Truck

A Minnesota man is accused of driving drunk and stealing a fire truck.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office, 25-year-old Edward Leecy Merle, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and DWI.

Around 4am Saturday, the Greenwood Township Fire Department was returning from a fire call when they discovered that a fire truck that was inside of the station was stolen.

The truck was found in Cook a little while later by a St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputy. Police then found Merle and arrested him.

Additional charges are pending.
