Minnesota Government Shutdown Over!

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at 1:33 pm

The Minnesota state government shutdown is over! Earlier today, Governor Mark Dayton signed the nine budget bills into law just hours after Congress passed the bills.

Dayton called a special session Tuesday night and lawmakers worked through the night to get all the bills voted on.

About a week ago, Dayton and Republican leaders came to an agreement and spent the last few days hammering out the final details.

After signing the budget, Dayton said he was “not entirely happy” with it.

Details are still emerging as to when the state operations would be back up. Dayton excepts most of the state employees back to work on Thursday.

Mark Dayton really proved a point for the small guys this year…Pick a fight that you cannot win and make your own people suffer as much as possible before you wave the white flag. Glad to hear all of the state employees will be back from a forced vacation.
