Northwestern Wisconsin Electric Company Provides Update On Power Outages
Northwestern Wisconsin Electric Company crews continue to make gains on restoring power to the remaining customers who lost power due to the July 1st storm.
The storm caused widespread damage to the region affecting NWE customers from Balsam Lake north to the Danbury/Webb Lake area. NWE estimates the damage from this storm to be the worst damage to the electric system ever in the company’s 90-year history.
NWE is being aided by crews from two other utilities, clearing contractors and temp help. NWE President Mark Dahlberg says this is the worst storm he’s seen in his 47 years of working for the company.
“The Siren tornado was bad,” Dahlberg said in a press release, “but as far as damage to the electric system, this is far worse.”
NWE estimates that at the end of the day Monday, still about 550 customers were without power.
