DNR Urging Residents to Stay Out of St. Croix State Park

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 am

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officers are urging people to stay out of St. Croix State Park.

Friday’s storm left the area with severe tree damage. The DNR says it is unsafe to enter the park due to the hundreds of trees that are down. The roads are impassable due to the down trees and some of the other trees are unstable and still in danger of falling.

Even though the park is closed because of the government shutdown, it’s extra urgent to stay out because of safety issues, says Chris Niskanen of the DNR.

Once the shutdown is over, it could still take several days before the crews can come in and clean up the damage.
