Freedom Fest Kicks Off This Afternoon! (Audio)

Freedom Fest is one of the highlights of life in Pine City each summer, and this year will be no different. Here is the weekend’s adgenda:

Friday afternoon: “Play Ball Minnesota!” MN Twins Youth Clinic will focus on
batting, throwing, running and catching for youth at the City
Softball Fields (rain site is Pine City Civic Center). 2 PM (ages 6-9)
3:30 PM (ages 10-16)
Pine City Arts Council presents Art in the Park – featuring
“Midas Touch”. In Robinson Park, meal provided by the Pine
City Lions. 6-8:30 PM

Saturday activities:4-H Pancake Breakfast: 7-10 AM in the 4H building at the Fairgrounds. Come
back at 10:45 AM for a Pancake Eating Contest!
4th Annual Freedom Fest Triathlon: 9 AM start at City Beach/Westside Park,
Advanced registration is required by June 15. Call 320-322-4040 for details on registering.
Pine Classic Cruiser Car Club Annual Car Show: 9 AM – 2 PM at the Fairgrounds
Antique Tractor Show: 9 AM – 2 PM at the Fairgrounds
Bean Bag Tournament: 9 AM tournament or 4 PM tournament at the Fairgrounds.
Advanced registration is suggested, but not required, by June 18th. Entry Fee is $7 per person.
Prize money and trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. Call 651-332-6003 for details.
Horseshoe Tournament: 1-4 PM at the Pine City Beach.

Children’s Activities: 12-2 PM at the Fairgrounds
 Pine Dragons PTO will host Carnival Game Booths beginning at 12 PM
 Pine City Parks & Recreation will host the Annual Kids Bike Parade at 12 PM.
All kids ages 2 – 12 are invited to decorate their bikes, trikes and scooters and bring them
to the fairgrounds for the Bike Parade. All children attending the event are invited to
register to win a bike – need not be participating in the parade to enter!
 Frandsen Bank & Trust, Northwoods Bank, Stearns Bank, GMCU and US Bank
have all donated quarters for the annual Money Scramble at 12:30 PM
 Pine County Sheriff’s K-9 Demonstration at 1 PM
 Train rides through the Fairgrounds courtesy of the Pine City Lions.

4-H Arts In Performance: 2:30 PM at the Fairgrounds.
Pine City Heritage Players & Pine City Arts Council are co-sponsoring the
summer production of “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” – members
of the cast will perform songs from the show at 3:30 PM.

2nd Annual Yellow Ribbon Kayak/Canoe Paddle: 3 PM start at the Pine City
Boat Landing. Advanced registration is required by June 15. Call 320-322-4040 for details.
Street Dance featuring “The Inside Out” Band: FREE ADMISSION to a great
event! Join us from 8 PM – Midnight at the Pine County Fairgrounds.

Community Fireworks Display: Approximately 10 PM at the Fairgrounds.
