Dayton’s Request For A Mediator Denied
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s request for a mediator, to help bridge the differences between himself and the Republican-controlled congress on the budget crisis facing Minnesota, was denied.
Ramsey Court Judge Kathleen Gearin denied the request Gov. Dayton made in early June. The motion which was opposed by both House and Senate attorney’s was ultimately denied.
“To get somebody who has the expertise and can set parameters and help define a process that will define a process that will lead to a successful resolution is in the best interest of all Minnesotans,” Dayton said at the time of the request.
Gearin sited, that the budget is meant to be decided between the governor and the legislature, as the reason for the denial.
The state has a week to come to a budget compromise or it faces a shutdown on July 1.
