Medallion Finder: Ben Anderson Of Pine City (Pictures & Video)

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011 at 10:38 am

Ben Anderson is heading into 9th grade here in Pine City, and he’s a pretty cool kid. In fact, he listens to WCMP FM quite a bit. Earlier this year, he won Twins Tickets with his home run call, and now he’s found an even larger prize to add to his resume.

Anderson found the hidden medallion in our Medallion Hunt here in Pine City.

Ben used the clues we provided, and tracked down the medallion at the Rural School in town.

Ben and his mom, Katherine Jones, spoke with our Jesse Logan about the process and a family trip their going to take with the $500 prize money.

Your rules said that the winner must be 18 years old to win and has to show proof of age. That must be the oldest 9th grader ever.

Technically Ben’s mom, Katherine Jones, was the winner. Ben found the item and is a kid. Listen to the interview and I think you’ll see why we let Ben have a little more spotlight. Life’s too short, no?

Look, the kid found it. His mom claimed the prize. I respect the station for telling listeners the truth.

They assumed we’d all be mature enough to understand. U think they should have told the kid to go put it back, or they should have changed all the clues and hid it again?

We were hunting the medallion as a family activity, and my son happened to be the one to find it. I think he deserved more of the spotlight! Thank you to WCMP for making my son feel so special yesterday.

The mom and the kids were looking together, it is a great adventure to do with your kids!! I think its a good find. Sounds like his family is going to make good use of the money! Congrats Ben and family. Let’s not take the fun out of this, this is how things end, next year they won’t be able to do it because someone complained and I don’t want to see all the good things disappear! Thanks WCMP.
