Multiple Fatalities in Chisago County Car Crash
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a car crash involving two vehicles on Friday evening resulted in three fatalities in Chisago County. The crash happened in Lindstrom at Olinda Trail and County Road 83.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office said that a 2002 Ford van being driven by a 68-year-old woman from Marine on St. Croix crossed the center line and struck a 2000 Toyota van head-on. 52-year-old Bart Izaac Hazlett from St. Anthony and three of his children were in the van. The children were identified by authorities as 15-year-old Zoe Felix Hazlett, 11-year-old Olivia Roy Hazlett and 9-year-old Roan Huy Hazlett.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Bart Hazlett, Olivia Hazlett and Roan Hazlett were all pronounced dead at the scene. Zoe Hazlett was taken to Region’s Hospital and then transferred to Gillette Children’s Specialty Health Care, where she is listed in fair condition. The 68-year-old woman was taken to Region’s Hospital by helicopter and is currently listed in serious condition.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office said it doesn’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but they will wait for toxicology results.
