On the morning of Tuesday, July 14th a home at 9623 Riverbend in Royalton Township was burned completely to the ground. The home has been owned by Jim and Karen Carlstrom for the past 6 years. Pine City Deputy Sjodahl was on the scene, as were firemen from both Pine City and from Braham. As you can see from the video, the home was a total loss.

As for the cause of the fire, the formal investigation is ongoing. However, Mrs. Carlstrom said that “we had a Federated guy out here for about two hours last night. We’ve smelled gas; I think he found a little leak.” Mrs. Carlstrom also said that she wasn’t carelss herself, adding “I left this morning to go to the chiropractor, I didn’t leave anything on. I left the windows open.”

Carlstrom finished by saying that she and her husband would be alright. “Like my aunt would say, you pick up your bootstraps and you start from right now.”

The home was a one-level with a crawlspace.

This is what we first saw when we arrived upon the scene.
