St. Cloud State University will have a new tobacco-free policy that will take effect on August 1. Smoking will only be allowed in clearly marked outdoor sections.

Last fall a Smoking Policy Review Task Force was created to review the University’s tobacco policy. After they concluded their final report, the task force said that a majority of the people who were studied support a tobacco-free campus including personal cars in campus parking lots.

The official recommendation was presented to President Earl Potter in April.
