Braham Girl Scouts To Host Flag Retirement Ceremony

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 at 7:10 am

Braham Area Girl Scouts will be hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 14 in Freedom Park in Braham. All are invited to attend if you have flags that need to be retired.

A flag is never said to be burned, instead, the term used is “retired.”  Disposing a flag that is worn, faded, or tattered by retiring (burning it) is the only method approved by Congress.

The burning should take place at a ceremony which shows respect and honor to the flag or flags being retired.

Please bring the flags with you, or you may drop off flags at Braham City Hall.
