Racino Bill Introduced at the Capital

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 at 11:51 am

Two lawmakers have introduced a “racino” bill at the capital. The bill would allow slot machines and casino-style gambling at the Canterbury Park horse racing track. The tax proceeds from the gambling would be used to help pay for a new Vikings stadium.

The Vikings have a plan forĀ  a new $1.1 billion stadium that would be in Arden Hills. The chief House sponsor of the stadium bill doesn’t think its a good idea to have a Vikings stadium linked to gambling.

This is a very good thing, they should have done this a long time a go.( the racino bill). It could help pay for a lot of other things, and maybe make it more affordable for family’s to go to sporting events.

The only problem with that would be the rural families that will lose their jobs due to the passing of this bill would not be able to afford to go to those sporting events. That is not necessarily those that work at the casinos, but those whose businesses are supported by the rural casinos.
