Pine County Sheriff Announces Two More Arrests

Thursday, May 12th, 2011 at 6:27 am

On May 6th, 2011, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grand Casino Hinckley in reference to the theft of an all-terrain vehicle. Video surveillance recorded the theft and supplied descriptions of the two males involved. This information was broadcast to officers in the area.

According to a statement from the Sheriff’s office, short time later a Minnesota State Trooper noticed parties matching the broadcast descriptions riding a different all terrain vehicle. The Trooper attempted to stop these parties but they slipped away. The Trooper was able to locate ATV tracks and carefully followed them to an address on Old Trail Road in Hinckley.

At that address the State Trooper and Pine County Deputies located the ATV the parties had been riding, but the males were gone. Officers noticed a motorcycle in the yard, license checks revealed that it had been stolen during a burglary in the Cloverdale area of Pine County, two weeks previous. The motorcycle was removed and impounded.

After Officers finished at the address, the State Trooper was writing his report at the end of the block when he noticed a sport utility vehicle pulling a trailer drive into the yard of the house on Old Trail Road. The trooper recognized the trailer as possibly stolen from Sturgeon Lake the previous week.

The Trooper and Pine County Deputies detained the two male occupants and further investigation revealed that the registration tag had been removed from the trailer and the stolen ATV from the Casino was located inside the trailer.
