A congratulations is in order for a member of the Burnett County Sheriff’s Department. The Burnett County Sentinel reports that detective Julie Mead has been recognized by her peers as the 2011 Officer of the Year.

Whether it is helping a victim with the ramifications of a crime that has been committed or helping someone who is grieving for a lost loved one, Mead says it’s all part of her job.

Mead told the paper she was “very honored to have won the Officer of the Year Award, humbled in fact,” She said she “had no idea this was coming, none whatsoever.”

Mead has been in law enforcement since 1998.
