Braham Father Accidentally Shoots 11-Year Old Girl In Head
An 11-year old girl from Braham is in critical condition Thursday night after her father accidentally shot her in the head, Pine County Sheriff Robin Cole tells WCMP. Cole says the girl was flown to Hennipen County Medical Center.
Sheriff Cole says the incident happened in Braham around 5:30 p.m.
According to Cole, Jesse Montanye was doing target practice with a .22 caliber pistol outside his home when a bullet became lodged inside the gun.
Apparently, Montanye then brought the gun inside the house and was trying to fix it when it went off. A bullet then struck his 11-year old daughter, Maddy, in the head from across the room. Montanye had been in the living room while his daughter was sitting at the kitchen table.
Cole told KSTP of Minneapolis that the girl was conscious when sheriff’s deputies arrived.
