The names of two people who were killed in a one-vehicle crash in southern Polk County have been released. The crash claimed the lives of Jeffery S. Pomerleau, a 35-year old man from Luck, and Jayme L. Bottolfson, a 22-year old woman from Star Prairie.

Both were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Dept., a 911 call came in at 8:37 p.m. indicated there was a crash on Hwy. 65 near 40th Ave., about four miles north of the Polk County/St. Croix County line, in the town of Alden.

The Inter County Leader reports a 2007 Dodge Caliber operated by Pomerleau was traveling north on 65 when the vehicle left the west edge of the roadway and struck a number of trees. Bottolfson, the owner of the vehicle, was a passenger at the time of the crash.

Authorities are investigating whether speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors.
