Prosser Declares Victory Over Kloppenburg In Wisconsin Supreme Court Race

More news came out late last week to frustrate those who oppose governor Scott Walker’s Budget Repair Bill. Conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser is declaring victory over challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg.

Final county tallies show Prosser with a 7,316-vote lead over Kloppenburg. State election officials are not declaring a winner in case Kloppenburg decides to request a recount. She has until Wednesday to call for one. Her campaign tells the Associated Press that she’s weighing her options.

Prosser’s campaign manager issued a statement saying the will of the electorate is clear and Prosser has been re-elected. He said Prosser extends his appreciation and respect to Kloppenburg and her “spirited campaign.”

Unofficial returns initially gave Kloppenburg a slim lead over Prosser. But the Waukesha County clerk announced she had failed to report 14,000 votes, which swung the election for Prosser.
