High-Speed Chase Kills One Person in St. Cloud

One person is dead and another is seriously injured, after a man involved in a high-speed chase crashed into their car. According to authorities, the chase started around 5pm on Friday in St. Cloud when police tried to pull over 22-year-old Timothy Gilles of Waite Park. Gilles was wanted on a felony warrant for a controlled substance crime and an alleged assault on a police officer.

Gilles lead authorities on a high-speed chase that lasted about a half mile. At an intersection Gilles ran into the driver’s side of a vehicle carrying a 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant. St. Cloud police officers say the man was killed. The pregnant woman was taken to the hospital. She and her unborn baby were in serious but stable condition.

After the crashing into the car at the intersection, Gilles fled on foot. He was arrested after authorities caught up with him and tased him. He was taken to the Stearns County Jail.
