Thursday morning’s rush hour drive was slowed down by a high speed pursuit of a man who car jacked a Red & White taxi cab in Minneapolis. According to authorities, the man was riding in the cab when he pulled a gun on the driver in the Lowry Hill Tunnel along westbound 94 at 5am. The driver of the car got out and the man car jacked the cab. The police then got into a high speed chase with the taxi throughout Minneapolis. Police put stop sticks out on northbound 35E, just south of the spilt with 35W in Forest Lake.
According to officials the suspect was shot by police, but there was no word on the condition of the suspect. Troopers also would not say if the suspect fired at the officers. I-35E remained closed in the area of I-35W as authorities continued their investigation.
