It’s Unanimous: Pine City Band Is Superior

Bands from ten area schools converged upon Mora High School on Tuesday, March 22 with a panel of judges rating the ensembles of aspects of musicianship from tone quality and balance to technical elements including rhythmic accuracy and articulation.

Pine City’s students earned some of the highest scores of the day, with
the Concert Band earning unanimous Superior ratings from all three of the judges, the highest rating possible.  The band earned these scores while competing in Category 1, the most difficult level of music.

One of the judges praised the band after their performance saying the band
played with “great passion and skill.  There are great things happening in
Pine City.”  Pine City played two contrasting selections: James
Swearingen’s “Follow the River” and Sam Hazo’s “Arabesque.”

The 79 members of the Concert Band will give their next performance in
their annual Pops Spectacular on Monday, May 2 at 7:30pm.  This will be an all-Disney program and admission is free.
