Pine City Defends Speech Title, Wins Third Straight Conference Crown

The Great River Conference Speech Tournament was held at Onamia High School on Monday, and the Pine City Dragons defended their status as the two-time champion;  now making it three straight Conference Championships for the Dragons Speech team.

Pine City had 8 conference champions pictured below:
Cody Miller (discussion), Ariel Steele (drama), Beth Maki (ex. reading) Renee Schminkey (creative), Nick Erickson (ex. speaking), Trevor Clune (poetry), Josh Palmer (storytelling), Aaron Nisley (prose)
The Dragons won with a combined 68 points, Ogilvie took second with 42, and Rush City was third with 27. Other teams participating in the conference tournament were Braham, Aitkin, Onamia and Hinckley-Finlayson.

Pine City had 8 conference champions out of the 13 speech categories.
Three Pine City speakers have earned 1st in their categories for three
years in a row: Trevor Clune, Josh Palmer and Aaron Nisley.
