Accident May Have Been Caused By Driver Distracted By Cell Phone

The Minnesota State Patrol says the driver injured in a crash on Friday afternoon, just south of Prior Lake, was distracted by a cell phone.The crash caused Hwy. 13 to be closed for a period of time.

According to the State Patrol, a van headed north on Highway 13 swerved across the center line and clipped the back of a semi truck that was heading south. Authorities believe the driver of the van, 33-year-old Chad Adamek of Jordan, was distracted by his a cell phone.

KSTP reports that Adamek was airlifted from the scene but is expected to recover.

Authorities say the accident on Highway 13 at 180th Street in Scott County happened just after 12 p.m.
