Monday, March 21st, 2011 at 7:00 am

For the second year in a row, FirstLight Health System nabbed the first prize spot for the community’s annual “Grocery Grab”. FirstLight staff collected food for the Mora, Ogilvie and Quamba Food shelves at the fourth annual Grocery Grab sponsored by Peoples National Bank of Mora. The FirstLight team came in first place, gathering over $683.00 of groceries. The 2011 Grocery Grab was held on Tuesday, March 15th at Coborns Grocery Store in Mora.

The event is a timed race with teams comprised of two members of area businesses. The teams then race through the Coborns’ aisles collecting food to be donated to the local food shelves. The Peoples National Bank of Mora agrees to pay for the team with the highest dollar amount in their cart. All other business pay for their own carts of groceries and all the food items are donated to the food shelves.

This year’s team consisted of Melissa Peterson, Materials Management Specialist, and Katie Kerr, IT Manager. Both women agreed that it was a fun event and a great opportunity to give back to a worthy cause.
