Classes to Resume in Hudson

Saturday, February 19th, 2011 at 10:35 am

After having a day off from school on Friday due to unusually high teacher absences, the kids in Hudson, Wisconsin will be going back to school on Monday.

The Hudson school district is the largest in Wisconsin and it joins a list of other Wisconsin schools that have had classes canceled because of teacher shortages caused by union protests at the state capital. Before Friday, teachers were urged not to call in sick.

Schools in Madison, Janesville, Wisconsin Dells and other districts around Wisconsin are closed. Teachers and other state union workers are upset with Republican Gov. Scott Walker, because he wants to curtail their collective bargaining rights and is asking them to contribute more to their health insurance and pensions.
