Bulldog Forward Explodes In Win Over Gophers
The Bulldogs’ junior forward Mike Connolly netted five goals as Minnesota-Duluth held off the feisty Gophers 6-4 on Saturday. Connolly’s last goal was an empty netter that sealed the victory for the Bulldogs.
WDIO reports it was the first time since 1972 that a Minnesota-Duluth player scored five goals in a game.
The Gophers got within one goal three times in the game but could not find a way to take control of the game or tame the red hot Connolly. With the victory the Bulldogs moved into first place in the WCHA over idle North Dakota. They lead by one point and have 29.
