Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and 10,000 others took to Gull Lake yesterday at the 21st Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza.

Governor Dayton and the others braved the sub zero temperatures to take part in what is being billed the largest charitable ice fishing event in the world. People come from as far away as Sweden to take part in the event.

The winner was a 1st time entrant from the Milwaukee area Andy Schultz. Though Governor Dayton didn’t catch anything he told the Star Tribune,”I grew up playing hockey outdoors on days like this,” Mark Dayton said. “It’s a beautiful Saturday afternoon in January.”
