Northwestern Wisconsin Couple Embezzeled From Their Disabled Son
A northwestern Wisconsin couple has been sentenced for embezzling from their son’s bank account. He suffered brain damage from an IED while he was serving in Iraq, according to The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram.
Michael and Lori Nault pleaded guilty to embezzlement in Eau Claire County Tuesday. Michael Nault was sentenced to seven months in jail — or five months if he does 480 hours of community service. Lori Nault was sentenced to five months in jail or 480 hours of community service. She’s their son’s primary caregiver.
Prosecutors say the couple embezzled as much as $167,000 from their son’s bank accounts, which were under guardianship of a Minneapolis company, authorities believe that $53,000 was spent on casino trips.
