WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3 AM CST SATURDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3 AM CST SATURDAY.

* TIMING AND LOCATION: SNOW WILL RAPIDLY DEVELOP ACROSS THE HINCKLEY… PINE CITY AND GRANTSBURG AREAS DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON HOURS AND PERSIST THROUGH SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

* VISIBILITY: VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED TO A HALF MILE OR LESS AT TIMES FROM ROUGHLY 4 PM TO 11 PM DUE TO FALLING SNOW.

* MAIN IMPACT: HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WITH SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS CAN BE EXPECTED BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING OVERNIGHT TONIGHT… INCLUDING INTERSTATE 35.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND REDUCED VISIBILITY… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.

THE GREATEST SNOW AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED ALONG AND ROUGHLY 40 MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE HIGHWAY 2 CORRIDOR FROM BEMIDJI… TO GRAND RAPIDS… TO DULUTH… TO BETWEEN PARK FALLS AND IRONWOOD MICHIGAN. SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE HEAVIEST FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH AROUND MIDNIGHT.
