Newly elected Sheriff Robin Cole told county commissioners of his plans to save the Pine County Sheriff’s Department a lot of money. Sheriff Cole’s plans include parking squad cars at the justice center instead of allowing employees to take their squad cars home overnight, eliminating the position of civil process server and instead have deputies serve papers, investigators will no longer work on holidays with the exception of emergencies and the void of one dispatcher who has left the department will not be filled by a new employee. Sheriff Cole has estimated all of these factors will save the department around $95,000.
