Get Ready: More Snow On The Way

Monday, December 20th, 2010 at 6:12 am

Just as crews are almost finished cleaning up from last weekend’s historic snowfall, another 6 to 8 inches could be headed our way.

A winter storm warning was issued Sunday (Dec. 19) evening covering all of the Twin Cities and most of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The snow is expected to start falling at a rate of about an inch an hour sometime this afternoon, with three inches possible by dinner time tonight.

It’s sounding like the heaviest snow will fall on a line stretching from Alexandria to Eau Claire, basically right through our listening area. Meteorologists from several outlets are predicting that area could see 6 to 10 inches by the time all is said and done. When you factor in the cold temperatures, it’s seeming like conditions will be right for the snow to pile up quickly.

The snow could be a major issue for the Minnesota Vikings as they play their first outdoor game in the Twin Cities in 29 years. The Vikings are set to kick off against the Chicago Bears at 7:30 tonight at TCF Bank Stadium. Three to four inches could fall during the game.
