Prosecutors: Hecker Tried To Marry Girlfriend While Out Of Jail
Prosecutors tell the Associated Press that fallen Twin Cities auto magnate Denny Hecker tried to marry his girlfriend when he was allowed to leave jail to meet with his attorney.
According to a letter to the judge, Hecker was allowed to use a room at the U.S. Attorney’s Office Wednesday to review documents. But prosecutors tell the AP that a pastor showed up, as well as Hecker’s girlfriend, Christi Rowan.
The letter says it’s clear they were there for a wedding, but the wedding did not happen. Hecker is only allowed video visits with Rowan.
Prosecutors say he abused a privilege, and they’ll now oppose letting him leave jail for anything but court.
Hecker pleaded guilty in September to fraud and conspiracy.
