A retired Minnesota State Trooper was killed in a car accident in Northern Minnesota last Friday.

The State Patrol said 52-year-old Timothy Murphy was driving south on Highway 84 near Longville when he lost control of his truck and ran into a tree around 8 p.m. Friday night.

WCCO of Minneapolis reports that Murphy worked for the State Patrol from 1982 until 2008, when he retired.

The State Patrol told WCCO that Murphy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
