Pine City’s Public School System has been named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education in America” by the NAMM Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to advance active participation in music.

Brad Mariska of PCHS will accept the award on behalf of the Pine City public schools on Monday, Sept. 20 at the Pine City Elementary School.

The NAMM Foundation used a web-based survey to evaluate school districts over the entire country, and Pine City was one of 174 districts nationwide to be given the honor. The survey evaluated funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities and support for the music program.

The survey was conducted from January through March, 2010.
