City-Wide Procession to Follow Master Sergeant Fedder’s Funeral

Master Sergeant Dan Fedder of Pine City, who died on Aug. 27 in Afghanistan, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Pine City.

Funeral services will be held at the Pine City National Guard Armory at 10 a.m. that morning with a city-wide procession to follow. Local residents as well as members of local and state government bodies (including Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty) will be in attendance.

After the funeral service, at approximately 11 a.m., the street route where the funeral procession will pass  (from the Armory to Birchwood Cemetery) will be lined with community supporters.

The procession will begin at the Armory and travel north on Main Street/Hw. 61 to the Third Avenue stoplights. At the light, the procession will head west down Third Avenue to 10th Street where it will conclude at the Birchwood Cemetery.

The city has asked local businesses and community members to wear yellow ribbons in honor of Master Sergeant Fedder, and to line the streets along the route of the funeral procession on Tuesday. American Flags will be placed along the route, and people are encouraged to hold the flags  somberly as the procession goes past.
