Pine City Marine Killed in Afghanistan
The Department of Defense has announced the death of a Pine City Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Master Sgt. Daniel L. Fedder (34) of Pine City was killed by a roadside bomb Friday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton, CA.
Pine City is mourning along with Fedder’s family. Fedder was a 16-year marine veteran on his third combat deployment. He went to Iraq in 2004 and 2006.
Many Pine City school faculty and administrators indicated that Fedder was a very good student during his time here. Superintendent Dennis Fisher also indicated that Fedder had long desired to be a marine even when he was a Pine City High School student.
Funeral services for MSGT Daniel L. Fedder, United States Marine Corps will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Pine City National Guard Armory. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6 also at the Pine City National Guard Armory.
Fedder leaves behind a wife and two children who currently live in southern California.
