Burglary Suspects Apprehended in Kanabec County
Local authorities have arrested three suspects they believe were responsible for a summer burglary spree that spanned more than a half dozen counties in central Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The Kanabec County Times reports the suspects were arrested late Monday morning just north of Braham by Kanabec County and Isanti County deputies after their vehicle was spotted traveling north on Hwy. 65.
Kanabec County Sheriff Steve Schulz told the paper that “surveillance techniques” led to the arrests, which came after a two month long investigation into the crime spree by a special task force made up by multiple law enforcement agencies from a variety of jurisdictions.
Numerous stolen items were found in the suspects’ car at the time of the arrest, and authorities believe the items will tie them to multiple burglaries throughout the region. Schulz indicated that search warrants were currently being executed on secondary locations, including at least one storage unit, where more stolen property is believed to be located.
Area residents who have been the victim of a burglary in the last two months and who believe the parties arrested this week may be involved are asked to contact the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office at 320-679-8400.
