The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has identified a missing boater as 64-year old Robert Waters of Lindstrom. A search ensued after an empty boat was found on Big Marine Lake in Scandia on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Crews were out all day on Thursday, Aug. 19 searching for Waters, a father and grandfather who spends much of his free time fishing.

KSTP in Minneapolis reports that crews plan to continue the search on Friday, Aug. 20 as long as the weather is good and there is no lightening in the area.

The Pioneer Press is reporting Waters is presumed dead. The paper also suggests that there were no signs Waters was drinking and alcohol is not considered a factor.
