A former St. Paul school district junior high teacher from Cambridge has been sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison in an Isanti County Court for touching a 12-year old girl in an inappropriate manner.

Robert Howard Swanson (43), who pled guilty to felony first degree criminal sexual conduct, faced a minimum of 144 months in prison under Minnesota Law but received 173 months.

The Isanti-Chisago County Star reports that Swanson told a “mandated reporter” that he had serious sexual addictions, and thinks about having sex with children. The paper also reports that Swanson told the reporter that he drugged the girl with diazepam, a drug he uses to relax when flying.

The mandated reporter then told police about Swanson’s admission.

Swanson will have to register as a predatory offender upon his release.
