Hohenwald Sentenced to Consecutive Life Terms

After being convicted to a double murder on Monday, Craig Hohenwald learned yesterday that he will never again be free. Judge Timothy Bloomquist delivered the sentence in court yesterday in an emotion filled courtroom. Hohenwald was found guilty of the gruesome killings of Kanabec County residents Larry and Lois Steenerson in February 2009.

Hohenwald did apologize, “I’m sorry for everyone involved, for everything that’s happened. The way it happened. I can’t change anything. I’m sorry.”

Prosecutors requested that Hohenwald be sentenced consecutively on the pair of first-degree murder charges,  and Judge Bloomquist granted their wish. “Consecutive sentences recognizes the horror felt by the community and that of two people attacked inside their home,” the Judge said. “Mrs Steenerson’s life, family, hopes and future deserve to be recognized – for whatever legal effect that might have.”
