Crawford Defeats Takala

Many people statewide were watching Tuesday night with interest in the race for District 8B’s Republican nominee. Kanabec County Commissioner Roger Crawford was able to hold off 21-year-old Rudy Takala of Pine City, although Takala beat Crawford in Pine County 682-475.

Crawford’s unofficial margin of victory was nearly 600 votes, as he recieved overwhelming support within Kanabec County, winning 1189 to 484. Crawford has been a long-time Mora resident, and he also carried three neighboring Isanti County townships that are a part of District 8B with 146 votes to Takala’s 79.

Crawford will face Democrat Tim Faust in November.
