Speech and Theatre Camp Returns to Pine City August 10-12
Students in grades 7-12 will have a chance to hone their acting skills at Pine
City’s 2nd Annual Speech and Theatre Camp, being offered August 10-12. The event has grown since first offered last year and will include a series of
workshops and activities led by local teachers as well as outside professionals.
The camp is being organized by speech coach Beth Steinleitner and theatre
director Brad Mariska and will feature monologue practice, improv games,
creative writing activities, scene study, movement workshops, and more.
Several outside professionals will assist with the programming, including Pine City alumnus Zach Hammill, who is a filmmaker who now makes his home in Los Angeles. Hammill will share the story of how he followed his dream of acting and directing and offer practical suggestions to help students develop their skills.
Any student currently involved in Pine City speech or theatre, or interested in becoming involved, is encouraged to attend. The camp will offer a variety of small- and large-group activities organized by age and experience, giving
younger students a chance to learn the basics, while advanced students will
participate in more challenging sessions.
Local students interested in auditioning for the fall musical, Guys and Dolls, will also learn more about that show and participate in mock auditions.
Registration is ongoing and the cost of the camp is only $5 per student and
takes place at Pine City Elementary School from 1-4pm on August 10, 11, and 12. To register or to learn more, you can call 320-629-4129 or email
