Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 at 12:20 pm

At approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday a construction company working west of I-35 near Hwy 95 in North Branch hit a 4” PE gas main. Gas was shut off at approximately 1:00 PM. This is a single feed main and service was lost to 52 commercial and 46 residential customers; the effected area includes Tanger Outlet Mall.

MERC has begun repair work as well as shutting off all meters in the effected area. Repairs are expected to be completed by 3:30 PM. Light up will begin as soon as the repairs are made and the line is purged. MERC has 9 employees on site working on shut down; they will also be utilized for the light up.

MERC’s 3rd party contractor is currently making the necessary repairs. MERC anticipates light up will take until later tonight
